Understanding Hancock County Releases
A person connected to Hancock County may leave Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, a state prison, federal custody, or a short local holding setting. Each exit produces a different trail. Northern is a state-operated regional facility in Marshall County, even though it serves Hancock. Can a posted bond prove the person walked out? No. It proves release became authorized in that case. A second case, warrant, or detainer may still control, so match the court entry with the facility's release or movement event.

Policy Directive 142.00 identifies public WVDCR fields that can include release date and time, projected minimum discharge date, good-time and jail-credit information, method of discharge, destination, mandatory-release information, and probation or parole action showing actual release. Request Hancock County Release Records

That trail can later change lawfully. Under section 61-11-25, eligible acquittal, dismissal, diversion, or deferred-adjudication records may be expunged, and the statutory record definition includes photographs. WVDCR Search for Hancock Releases
The WVDCR hub separates Daily Incarcerations, Offender Search for Jails, Offender Search for Prisons, and escapees. Those choices are not interchangeable. Daily Incarcerations records admissions, not releases. The jail search is the starting point for a current Northern detainee. Hancock County Recent Release Gap
No official Hancock County or Northern page establishing a rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release feed was verified. The sheriff site does not publish such a view, and the WVDCR tools provide current custody plus Daily Incarcerations. Neither can be relabeled as “released today.” No public retention window or refresh schedule for released Northern entries was established.
For a recent event, record when the person was last seen in the jail search and when the result disappeared. Next, check the Hancock case for a newly posted bond, dismissal, sentence, or transfer. Search VINE and the prison system. Then ask WVDCR for an existing release or movement row between those timestamps. This proves more than a screenshot of an empty current roster.

Hancock Releases Under Supervision
Parole and probation leave different trails. The West Virginia Parole Board decides whether an eligible state prisoner receives conditional release. WVDCR Parole Services supervises the person afterward. A Board grant is conditional and may precede the physical release date. A denial continues confinement at that stage, while a set-up schedules later review. Confirm the actual gate event through WVDCR or VINE.
Probation comes from the sentencing court. The signed Hancock order establishes whether probation was imposed and for how long. An old probation entry is not proof of current freedom because a later revocation can return the person to custody. Federal Transfers After Hancock Release
No adult BOP prison or dedicated ICE detention facility was identified in Hancock County. A person may leave Northern in U.S. Marshals custody before designation to a federal sentence. Getting Home After Hancock Release

Confirm the fare, service hours, pickup point, and availability with the provider. Do not send a ride based only on a projected date, bond posting, or vanished roster entry.
Northern Jail Serves Hancock Releases
Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility is in Marshall County and serves Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio, Tyler, and Wetzel counties. Its combined name matters. A Hancock person there may be a pretrial regional-jail detainee, a sentenced jail inmate, or a state correctional inmate. Search the jail and prison systems according to legal status rather than assuming the building fixes the answer.
The official Northern facility profile confirms the facility name, counties served, address, and phone. The screenshot below helps distinguish the active facility from the nearby former West Virginia Penitentiary, which is a historic site and not the present jail.
Use the exact facility name in every request. A vague request for the “Hancock jail” can reach the wrong office or even a similarly named county in another state.
