Hancock Parole Release Records

To find someone released on parole after a Hancock County sentence, verify three separate events: the decision that authorizes conditional release, the custody record that shows actual departure, and the supervision record that identifies what follows. A hearing date or eligibility date is not a release. Even a favorable decision may depend on conditions that delay the gate event. Hancock County parole supervision can also be assigned outside the county when the approved residence is elsewhere. The full record therefore follows legal authority, physical custody, current reporting office, and eventual discharge rather than relying on one status label.

Hancock Parole Agency Roles

The West Virginia Parole Board and WVDCR Parole Services have different roles. The Board decides whether an eligible state prisoner receives parole and handles later Board actions. WVDCR maintains custody and offender records, processes the actual release event, and supervises parolees through Parole Services. Calling both functions “the parole office” hides which record answers the question.

A Board grant is legal authorization subject to its terms. It may still depend on a home plan, programming, another required task, or the absence of a blocking detainer. DCR records the person's actual movement out of confinement and later supervision status. A hearing calendar establishes scheduling only. The approved residence then helps determine the supervision office, which may be outside Hancock County.

Confirm Hancock Parole Release

Verification starts with a state sentence. A Hancock County defendant may serve time at Northern Regional Jail or another DCR institution, but a county-jail disappearance alone does not establish parole. Search the DCR prison offender record for the matching person, sentencing information, location or status, parole fields, and Projected Release Date when populated. Then obtain the Board decision and the later DCR release event.

  1. Identify the Hancock Circuit Court case and signed sentencing order. Confirm that a state sentence exists.
  2. Use the WVDCR offender-search hub and choose the prison search for the sentenced person.
  3. Review the Parole Board hearing source for scheduling, without treating a calendar entry as release.
  4. Request or obtain the named Board decision. Read the exact result and any stated conditions.
  5. Confirm the actual departure through DCR or West Virginia VINE, then request the release event when exact proof is needed.
  6. Contact WVDCR Parole Services with the offender number and approved release county to locate the responsible supervision office.
Important: Parole eligibility, an interview, and a Board grant can occur before the actual gate date. Only the custody event confirms departure.

The Hancock County released-inmate search and record process helps rule out a transfer, another hold, or continued DCR custody. If a local record says “parole” but DCR still reports confinement, use the narrower statement and ask which condition remains open.

Hancock Parole Hearing Records

The Board schedules eligible inmates in the month they become eligible, subject to its process. The official calendar is a monthly scheduling source. A name or facility entry proves that a hearing was planned, not that a decision was favorable or that the person left custody. The Parole Eligibility Date may fall near that period, but the Board explains that PED does not guarantee the interview date.

Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility has a specific hearing practice. The Board's facility-hearing information lists Northern among institutions normally heard by video conference, with an annual onsite exception. This is a local procedural detail, not a different release standard. Current operational notices should be checked because schedules and participation practices can change.

West Virginia Code § 62-12-13 governs eligibility and Board duties. Its general structure includes the minimum of an indeterminate term or one fourth of a definite term, but it also contains special categories, mandatory periods, exclusions, and offense-specific provisions. Section § 62-12-13a makes clear that eligibility does not create a right to release.

Note: Compare the current statute, judgment, and DCR time sheet for a sentence-specific eligibility answer rather than relying on a calendar date.

Hancock Parole Decision Records

No verified official public person-level decisions database was found. The Board's public materials describe denial, set-up, and grant as primary results. A denial continues confinement at that point and sets later reconsideration as stated. A set-up schedules another hearing. A grant permits conditional release after the required terms are satisfied. Other administrative outcomes may include postponement, waiver, rescission, revocation, or contingent action.

Use the Board rules and records route to request the named decision or order. Give the offender's name and number, facility, hearing month, and the exact record sought. The monthly calendar is not an acceptable substitute. If the decision uses specialized terms, quote the document and avoid guessing at their effect.

After a grant, check DCR and VINE. A home plan, required programming, detainer, or rescission can separate the decision date from physical release. Ask DCR for the date and time of release, method of discharge, destination, and any public parole action showing actual release. Those fields connect the legal approval to the gate event.

Hancock Parole Office Assignment

The Board does not employ the supervising parole officers. Its FAQ directs officer and contact questions to DCR. The WVDCR Parole Services directory is the correct starting point for current supervision routing. Provide the full name, offender number, and approved release county if known.

A Hancock County sentence does not guarantee a Hancock reporting office. Supervision follows the approved residence and can be placed elsewhere in West Virginia. An interstate plan can add another state's supervision process while West Virginia retains the underlying parole interest. Do not publish an officer name, reporting time, or office assignment unless the agency confirms that it is public and current.

Supervision routing

Agency: WVDCR Parole Services
Use for: Current office and supervision contact
Provide: Full name, offender number, and approved release location

Use the current official directory. The sentencing county alone is not a reliable office locator.

The Hancock County Probation & Parole record page also distinguishes court-ordered probation from Board-authorized parole. Probation questions return to the sentencing order and responsible court structure rather than the Parole Board.

Hancock Parole Board Contact

Board staff handle hearing, decision, and Board-record questions. Parole Services handles routine supervision routing. Sending the same broad question to both agencies can blur the record. Instead, ask the Board for the decision and DCR for the actual release, time computation, or supervision contact.

A focused Board request identifies the person, offender number, hearing date or month, facility, and desired decision. A focused DCR request asks for the public release or discharge event, sentence computation, parole release certificate where applicable, and current public status. West Virginia FOIA § 29B-1-3 requires reasonable specificity for agency records and sets the statutory response choices.

Note: No successful parole-directory or calendar screenshot was captured, so current official text and records should be checked directly.

Hancock Parole Revocation and Discharge

A parolee remains under sentence until discharge. A reported violation can lead to a hold and the prescribed revocation process. A former inmate may then reappear in a regional jail. That newer custody record does not erase the earlier release, but an old grant must not be used to describe the person as currently released.

The Board's FAQ states that successful completion of a period of supervision can create eligibility for discharge, while discharge itself is not automatic. Sentence type can affect the minimum period. Obtain the actual discharge decision or certificate before saying that supervision ended.

For a current question, read the event sequence: original release, supervision assignment, alleged violation or warrant, new custody, Board action, and later discharge if any. An absconder or warrant label is not a new conviction. The absence of a name from a public list also does not establish compliance or discharge.

Hancock Parole Release Record

The final release record is a chain, not one universal certificate. The Hancock judgment establishes the sentence. DCR's time sheet supports eligibility and projected dates. The Board order records the decision. The DCR release event supplies the actual date, time, method, and destination. Parole Services identifies the supervision route. A later discharge record closes the supervision phase.

When records conflict, avoid choosing the broadest result. Report that a grant was entered while custody remained, or that DCR reported release while supervision continued. That wording preserves the difference between Board authority, physical custody, and the end of the sentence.
